Welcome to Granted Gardens! We are Melissa and Tyler, and we are so happy you have chosen to visit us!
Back in 2017, Granted Gardens was a nameless 4x4 raised bed made by my father from an old wooden swing set. Since then, we have built a dream on our 1.5 acre homestead. We are located in Frederick County, Maryland. Our gardens include an herb bed, 3 raised beds, one back to eden garden, a food forest, and a cottage garden.
Gardens are my passion. However, we have considered adding livestock as well. In 2020 we finally made it happen and we added 8 chickens to the homestead!
Gardening is not all we do. We also LOVE to cook! Be sure to check out our Kitchen Series to view videos on recipes from our kitchen.

Building a Secret Garden| 2023 Garden Plans
Переглядів 1542 роки тому
For the last few years our garden has been very straight forward. Our goal was purely abundance. We wanted to grow food that we could eat... and lots of it! On a morning where I gave myself grace, a morning of solitude and reflection; I found myself dreaming of the garden. Not one that I have owned. Not one that I have ever planned per say. This garden was new a full of life with awe inspiring ...

What have you mixed in it, grains and bees
Watching this in November 2024. Thank you so much for sharing this
Was liquid hot when you put it in the freezer? That caused glass to break. You'll get it next time
I wish you all luck in getting your homestead set up. I am trying to do the same thing living in the city, full time job, part time second job, doing gardening, learning.
That looks really good! We stopped buying the premade stuff with Bidenomics. This will be better!
Would you be willing to mail me some of your seeds from the chilis?
Hi would u be willing to send a a few of these chili seeds please?
Love the video! How long does it typically take to dry out?
That was a complete waste of my time congratulations! You you didnt do what your video title said you'd do ,
Recipe link doesn't work.
Your wild to touch with bare hands lol I touch mine forget then touch my face and it starts burning every time never fails. so this is just like the pepper you get from pizzas 🍕 places
Welcome back! Love seeing that little swing in the back yard! Congratulations to you both! How big is your tomato bed and how many plants did you put in? I have a 9’x5’ bed and planted 18 tomatoes, 3 rows of 6. I lost a couple out of the gate but the rest are doing great, all trellised, and some are over 7’ tall! They are over the trellis and they are starting to bend, I know they will prob break eventually from the weight and lack of support but I have plans for taller trellises next year. I can’t believe I am considering a 10’ tall trellis for tomatoes!😮
Glad to see you back. The garden is beautiful.
Thank you!
congrats melissa and tyler so glad to see you back !!!
@@showersnflowers1 thank you ❤️❤️
wow nice
Use ice packs rather than ice but good ideas, enjoyed the video.
I’ve had rhubarb for over 6 years it’s never flowered
Great vid! I think I’d leave a lot of those seeds in there to add some more volume. Huge seed harvest but not a lot of pepper flakes in the end. Not sure if it would make it too hot though.
where is the finished product? WOW!
It's common that you never put glass with liquid in the freezer 😢
Great video! How did your elderberries do?
Does the plastic need to be food grade?
To be on the safe side, yes. Because non food grade can leach chemicals into the soil, and whatever was previously stored in them may leach as well.
Always wanted to make this, looks yum
Gorgeous soil coming soon
Cleverness, bless your chucks 😊
Interesting stuff, recipes please xx 🌹
Glass jars are ok for freezing but there are steps you need to take to make sure it doesn’t break. Great job beauty!!
I love imitation crab I like to twist the sticks to separate the flakes the chop and add a little lemon juice and black prpper
Hi sis, good job. Please how do i preserve my fresh leaves oil i made to last long?
we can use some kind os stainless steel bowl or cup instead of plastic or glass.
I am so happy I found your video. I have the same set up in my dining room and couldn’t figure out how/where to position the lights.
did you get the recipe from Golden Corral?
Please keep waisting out time. Thank you i like ypur titts
I dont think you are very smartttt
AaGood Idia 😂
Put the ice in a small metal bowl on top? Use two… one to change out quickly.
I think you should buy an essential oil distiller... I have seen a video with 10 kilograms of lemon just to extract 80 ml of lemon essential oil. that is how little you can get.
We have one! We ended up doing a video with it a few years later! Check it out!
Mason jars won’t crack
Does anyone know what's the plant name?
Patchouli
Actually I want them to bolt. I'm in zone 9-10 and I was watching a video claiming that it's possible to grow rhubarb as an annual in warm area. I'm pretty sure my area is gonna kill a rhubarb its first year as we average 90°F by May and over 100°F on July/August. I've been searching info on how to grow it as an annual but very little is said about it. Reading the comments on your video, I'm for the first time hopeful I might be able to get seeds from 1 year old plants.
Thank you so much for this! Where do you suggest hanging the peppers? Is sunlight bad?
I usually don’t hang them in direct sunlight but I’m not sure that it would be an issue if you did
A lot of great info in the video. Your peppers look healthy! Any reason why mine are so tiny? lol. They're like a pinky finger in size (total noob gardener here).
What kind of peppers do you have? There are many varieties out there.
@@GrantedGardens Thai peppers. I don't recall the specific variety. I have some bell peppers that turned out tiny too. haha. My cayenne looks great though!
I loved your video. I was wondering if it would be possible to leave the jar open so the water can evaporate. You would probably have to cover the container with a porous cloth, like cheesecloth, to prevent bugs from getting in, but allow water to get out. The oil shouldn't evaporate. Another I idea I had is the you could to simmer the water off without burning the oil. I have never commented before, but your video was inspiring! This is my first comment ever!
Hi! 👋 Thank you for the message! We have upgraded our system quite a bit since this video. We have another video with our updated System. However, I really believe that you don’t need a ton of fancy tools. Obviously, there is a better way than putting it in a glass jar in the freezer haha But I think it’s still a good run if you are looking to not spend a Bunch of money on tools. Let me know what works best for you if you try it!
Congratulations! I'm also expecting a baby, due in October! It's not been quite as easy to keep up with the garden this summer, but oh well. Thanks for sharing your garden with us
Awww congratulations to you all as well! ❤️❤️
Congratulation to you and Tyler!!! I have been missing you all. I had been wondering a few weeks ago that I had not seen a video from you both. I am excited for you both, wish you all the best wishes and praying for you both.
Thank you and thank you for the prayers! We are very excited! We are absolutely blessed to be on this journey and could not be happier. Thank you for thinking of us James
Congratulations 🎉
Congratulations!
Congrats!!! I was wondering where you have been glad it's for good reasons. Babies change everything!
Thank you! Big changes to come for sure! It’s the greatest blessing ❤️👶🏻
Congrats you guys ! I’ve missed y’all I had a suspicion before I even read the title of the video when you didn’t post for a while I knew something was up
Hahah thank you. I was so exhausted through the first trimester, I didn’t do much other than what had to be done. Now that I’m feeling better I wanted to share with you all!
We are all so excited! You look beautiful Liss!! Love you so much!
